How much can I save?

Our prime metric for selling our solutions is Return On Investment or "ROI." Wrapped up in the centre of the ROI calculation is the amount of money you will save if you engage with our solutions.

Cut your energy bills by 10 to 40%

The level of savings you can achieve varies a great deal and ranges from around 10% (we have not had customers saving less than this) to over 40% of your energy spend. On average, customers tend to save around 25 to 30%. Your saving level will depend on your organisation's willingness to engage, the amount of genuine desire to save energy, your budget for minor capital or retrofit projects, and the original level of good practice that exists prior to working with us.

It is fairly straightforward to reach the 10% savings level. In our experience, initial savings of 10% can be achieved relatively quickly, simply by using our system to break down and reassess current energy use.

More effort is required to achieve the higher savings of 40%, perhaps including some retrofit projects, such as our Voltage optimisation solution, Chiller energy-saving solution, PC energy-saving solution, etc.

Energy-saving broken down into easy steps:

1. Using the principle of "if you can't measure it, you can't manage it," our solutions generally start by fitting the Advanced smart metering module.
2. Once our smart metering system has been fitted, most customers find immediate savings through simple behavioural changes. Our reporting tools highlight when and where energy is being wasted, and enable most clients to reduce energy bills by more than 10%. They will identify some wastage that is easily eliminated - e.g. by asking the cleaner to turn the lights off when they leave and switching extractor fans off when baking ovens are not in use.
3. Data collected about how energy is used across your site also allows us to evaluate the relevance of our other modules and to predict their benefit (in terms of further savings) to your organisation.
4. Our solutions are generally designed to produce an ROI of around 2 years.

Our solution modules all bolt on to the main module, the Advanced smart metering solution. This gives us very accurate data on which to base predictions about the savings and ROI you can expect from additional modules.

There is more information about what each module can do for you here, but as a general guideline:

• Advanced smart metering delivers savings largely through behavioural change of around 10 - 15%. Some clients (e.g. IBM) have seen savings of up to 27%.
• Our Voltage optimisation energy-saving solution delivers between 0% and 17% savings. Generally, the more "old" equipment you have on your site, the higher the level of savings you will get.
• Our Chiller energy-saving solution should deliver around 12% savings on your chiller equipment.
• If PCs and monitors are frequently left on overnight, along with other peripheral equipment such as printers, our PC energy-saving solution can eliminate this waste, with a payback time of around 6 - 9 months.
• The Machinery and motor energy-saving solution can save you money if you have machinery, escalators, lifts or other equipment containing motors that run in an under-utilised manner. The levels of savings for these machines will vary a lot, but will be between 2% for large motors and 10% for smaller motors.

We generally recommend that you implement these solutions over a two to three year period, and the good news is that once you put these measures in place, you get the savings cumulatively year after year.
