Machinery and motor energy-saving solution
Our energy-saving module for machinery and motors uses our torque control technology to reduce the amount of energy wasted by your motors when they are idling.
Motors are specified to power the full operation cycle of a piece of equipment but, for most of the time, they are not working at their full-rated capacity. During these times, the design of the motor means that a great deal of energy is wasted, primarily from magnetic fields within the motor and from heat.
Our torque controllers continually monitor the power consumed by your motor and will adjust the voltage, current and phase angle 100 times per second to ensure that your motor wastes as little energy as possible when it is not at full load.
The energy you will save through this tried and tested technology will vary depending on your motor, your application and the operating environment, but savings of around 10% are common.
If you are interested in fitting a MAMESS system to your equipment we first ask that you invest in our Advanced smart metering module. Once we have installed this, we are in an excellent position to accurately measure the level of savings you could expect from the MAMESS system. As a rule of thumb, smaller motors that have a low duty cycle produce the greatest savings but, with our advanced metering solution, we can tell you precisely your Return On Investment before you purchase.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will I save energy even when the motor is at full load?
A: Not really. The system can give you marginal savings when the motor is running at full capacity but it produces its best savings when the motor is idling. If your motor has a low duty cycle (e.g. lifts, escalators with "bursty" or light traffic flow, injection moulding machines or presses), then this system is ideal.
Q: Can I fit it to three phase motors?
A: Yes. We have three phase and single phase systems available.
Q: Do I have to buy the Advanced smart metering module first?
A: No you don't, but the advanced smart metering module is inexpensive and simple to fit, and we would recommend installing it before you invest in any of our torque controllers.
Q: Can I use the MAMESS system to monitor my machines remotely?
A: Yes. With the Advanced smart metering module, you get full internet reporting of the energy used by your machines, reported and analysed once every minute.
